Acceptance of these terms

By downloading, installing, or using Claux in any form — including the macOS desktop app, the command-line interface (CLI), or any associated tooling — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the software.

These terms apply to both the free tier and any paid Pro subscription. They form the entire agreement between you and Claux regarding your use of the software and supersede any prior discussions or representations.

02

What Claux is

Claux is a local observability tool for Claude Code. It reads session logs written by Claude Code to your own machine — specifically the JSONL files in ~/.claude/ — and surfaces cost, context health, token usage, and session history in a native macOS menu bar app and a terminal TUI dashboard.

Claux is entirely local. No session data, prompts, code, or personal information is ever transmitted to Claux servers or any third party. Everything the app reads stays on your machine. There is no backend, no cloud sync, and no telemetry unless you explicitly opt in to a future feature that states otherwise.

Claux is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Anthropic PBC, the maker of Claude. "Claude Code" and "Claude" are trademarks of Anthropic PBC.

Free and Pro plans

Free tier. The free version of Claux is provided at no cost and includes full access to local session monitoring, the macOS menu bar app, the CLI and TUI dashboard, analytics, budget tracking, and session history as described on the pricing page. No account or payment is required.

Pro tier. Pro is a paid subscription currently in early access. It includes everything in the free tier plus advanced features such as early access to new releases, a full export suite, unlimited CLAUDE.md generation and optimization, advanced session quality analytics, and intelligent context optimization guidance.

  • Pro subscriptions are billed monthly at the rate displayed at the time of purchase.
  • Early-access pricing is locked in for subscribers who join during the beta period, subject to the terms communicated at the time of sign-up.
  • You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
  • Claux reserves the right to change Pro pricing with at least 30 days' notice to active subscribers.
04

License grant

Subject to these terms, Claux grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the software on devices you own or control, solely for your own internal purposes.

You may not:

  • Redistribute, resell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer the software to any third party.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any compiled portion of the software, except where expressly permitted by applicable law.
  • Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices contained in the software.
  • Use the software in any way that violates applicable law or regulation.

Open-source components of Claux are governed by their respective licenses, which are included in the source repository at github.com/vatskyone/claux.

05

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for your use of Claux and the environment in which it runs. Specifically:

  • You must ensure that your use of Claux complies with the terms of service of any third-party services it reads data from, including Claude Code and Anthropic's platform.
  • You are responsible for keeping your operating system, dependencies, and the Claux installation up to date.
  • If you use a Pro subscription, you are responsible for providing accurate billing information and keeping it current.
  • You must not attempt to circumvent any feature restrictions, access controls, or licensing mechanisms in the software.
06

Privacy and your data

Claux does not collect, store, or transmit your session data. The app reads files from your local filesystem and processes them entirely on your device. No usage analytics, session contents, prompts, or code are sent anywhere.

If you sign up for the Pro waitlist or a Pro subscription, we collect only the information necessary to manage your account — such as your email address — and use it solely to communicate with you about Claux. We do not sell this information or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

For complete details on how any personally identifiable information is handled, see our Privacy Policy.

07

Intellectual property

All rights, title, and interest in and to Claux — including the software, design, copy, and branding — are and remain the exclusive property of Claux and its contributors. These terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.

Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you share about Claux may be used by us freely and without obligation to you. You are not required to provide feedback, and providing it does not create any rights or obligations on either side.

08

Disclaimer of warranties

Claux is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
  • Warranties that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy of cost calculations or token counts — these are derived from Claude Code's local logs and are estimates, not billing records.

Cost and usage figures displayed by Claux are computed from local JSONL logs using publicly available pricing data. They are provided for informational purposes only and may differ from amounts billed by Anthropic. Always refer to your Anthropic billing dashboard for authoritative usage and cost information.

09

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Claux and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities — arising out of or in connection with your use of the software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or related to your use of Claux exceed the amount you paid for the software in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities, so the above may not apply to you in full.

10

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active Pro subscribers by email at least 14 days in advance.

Continued use of Claux after updated terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree to the updated terms, stop using the software and, if applicable, cancel your Pro subscription before the changes take effect.

11

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Claux operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction.
